Best Hotels

I heard that some Vegas hotels are offering deep discounts. My friend and I will probably spend four days in Vegas. Do you suggest weekday or weekend? We definitely want to see a Cirque de Soleil show, (I hope "O" is still there) and I believe they play five times a week, right?

I loved the rooms in the Venetian (super large), Bellagio was great. Room size is important; I want a large room with two big beds.

Any hotel with an indoor pool?

Bellagio’s pools are open all year. The MGM Grand has one that is open all year. The Flamingo has one that is open all year. Treasure Island’s pool is open all year except for a brief period in February. The Mirage pools are open all year.

Bellagio, or the Mirage are the best choices for you if you want a heated pool in the Winter as well as a great hotel and location. Remember, you can upgrade to a suite if you want more room.

My boyfriend & I are planning on going to Ottawa this winter, over the Christmas break, can anyone recommend any good hotels? Thanks

If your looking for something pricey and nice. The Westin Hotel, The Chateau Laurier, The Lord Elgin Hotel, The Inn On The Provinces (are all well placed especially in winter) being downtown and close to everything including the Rideau Canal skating rink, stores, Byward Market etc. The Westin and Inn have the better parking facilities.

Me and the family are planning a trip to Disneyland next spring and I was just wondering what are some good hotels. We aren’t looking to spend over $200 a night and we want to be close enough to the park so that we could walk there everyday. Looking for best value for the money.. any advice on hotels??

And how far is Disneyland from the beach? (Just wondering)

Hi Kim,

I always recommend the Howard Johnson (HoJo) and the Candy Cane Inn. While some hotels are closer, these two are very close to the front entrance, so you can walk back to the hotel for a swim or a nap in the afternoon. They are a step above the other hotels in the immediate area in terms of rooms, service, pool, and value. The HoJo recently added a themed pool, the only one outside the Disneyland Resort property.

NOT all hotels in the area are the same. I see people in the park ALL the time, since I’m there every week. Sure, in the morning, you’ll see people happily walking from the Annabella and the Camelot (two hotels a bit further away from the entrance). But at the END of the day, you’ll be glad that your hotel is nice and close. Park Place Inn and the Tropicana are a bit closer than the HoJo, but they are basically motels. Just a bed, not much else.

I’m not sure what to think about Dr. Nigel. He tends to recommend places he knows nothing about, just finding them on the Internet, and never visiting them. Maybe he stayed at the Park Place Inn, so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. That’s a decent enough

Poor TravelMaster. Gotta love him, he knows SO much about public transit in SoCal. But I think he tends to underestimate time and distances. Newport Beach, the closest Beach to Disneyland, is 19 miles away. You take I-5 south to the 55 freeway south. Follow the freeway until it ends on Newport Blvd, and follow Newport Blvd to the beaches.
