Best Hotels

Hi guys need help! looking for a really really nice getaway for summer. don’t want to fly anymore so I hope you can advise on the best beach resorts in this side of the Philippines. Thanks so much!!!

I can recommend Laiya Beach in San Juan batangas, Caylabne beach in Cavite, Camayan Beach in Subic, Eagle Point Beach resort in Batangas etc. it depends on your budget. the travel time for those resorts are 2 to 3 hrs drive from manila. you can contact JLT Travel & Tours at tel# (632) 3631139 or 3657602. Never Stayed at a Best Western but that will prolly come before a holiday inn.

They have a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee policy, and you will get your money refunded if you are not happy with your stay. The beds have a specialized pillowtop mattress by Serta made especially for the hotel chain. The staff are generally held to high standards, and the chain really encourages good customer service. They are upgrading all the hotels to flat-screen televisions now, and they have fresh-baked cookies available to guests in the evenings.

Of course, working part-time at one.. I’m a bit biased

Ignoring my position, I still avoid staying at any other hotels now when I go out of town. Marriott hotels come in close second though! I love the fact that they are all non-smoking.

There will always be poor/good examples of each hotel brand though. It’s best to get online and do a little research before making a reservation anywhere (rates, reviews, age of hotel, acommodations, etc).

Me and the family are planning a trip to Disneyland next spring and I was just wondering what are some good hotels. We aren’t looking to spend over $200 a night and we want to be close enough to the park so that we could walk there everyday. Looking for best value for the money.. any advice on hotels??

And how far is Disneyland from the beach? (Just wondering)

Hi Kim,

I always recommend the Howard Johnson (HoJo) and the Candy Cane Inn. While some hotels are closer, these two are very close to the front entrance, so you can walk back to the hotel for a swim or a nap in the afternoon. They are a step above the other hotels in the immediate area in terms of rooms, service, pool, and value. The HoJo recently added a themed pool, the only one outside the Disneyland Resort property.

NOT all hotels in the area are the same. I see people in the park ALL the time, since I’m there every week. Sure, in the morning, you’ll see people happily walking from the Annabella and the Camelot (two hotels a bit further away from the entrance). But at the END of the day, you’ll be glad that your hotel is nice and close. Park Place Inn and the Tropicana are a bit closer than the HoJo, but they are basically motels. Just a bed, not much else.

I’m not sure what to think about Dr. Nigel. He tends to recommend places he knows nothing about, just finding them on the Internet, and never visiting them. Maybe he stayed at the Park Place Inn, so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. That’s a decent enough

Poor TravelMaster. Gotta love him, he knows SO much about public transit in SoCal. But I think he tends to underestimate time and distances. Newport Beach, the closest Beach to Disneyland, is 19 miles away. You take I-5 south to the 55 freeway south. Follow the freeway until it ends on Newport Blvd, and follow Newport Blvd to the beaches.

We talked with Mr Rance and found out that being a resort operator is his passion. He was involved – more correctly brought a lot of resorts to Jamaica before striking out on his own with the Franklyn D Resort and Spa and Pebbles Resort 20 years ago.

This is the America’s Best Inn at Sandusky, Ohio. There were multiple things wrong with this place and I did not catch them all on video due to a low battery in my camera. The non-smoking room smelt like a tobacco factory and there were no clean wash clothes or towels. There were all types of bacteria on the shower curtain and in the room period. The sheets and pillows were full of stains and dirt and not to mention the used toilet paper roll in the bath room. It looks as though the front lobby and restaurant received all of the cleaning attention because you can clearly notice the difference between where you sleep and what you see when you walk in. Do not be fooled by the four-star rating that this place received on several travel sites because you will be bamboozled! Do yourself a favor and do not stay here when doing your hotel searches…

ie nice beaches, picturesque, not too commercialised, nice places to eat out.

Two years ago I went to Quarteira in the algarve which is about half way between Faro airport and Albafura, beautiful beaches, lots of nice little restaurants, a nice mixture of locals and tourists and in the first week of July they have a festival with lots of music and fun. Going back agoin this year. You also have Vilamora up the road which is a marina town with lots of Yachts and the like.
